Trevor Aspden
By Marten Holdway
Trevor was a good bloke, smoked like a chimney, and drove a Vespa SS 90 sport.
I remember on a trip to a LASCA prize giving, in Lambeth I think and it
must have been during the 3 day week as the power was not on at the
venue. We all went up by coach and the coral singing was always led by
Trevor. He was the only one who could sing all the verses of 4 and 20
virgins, all 24 of them. He was a fine fellow, in later days he got
himself a 3 wheeler Berkeley sports car, it looked like an MG but not a
rapid. We stayed friends into the early 70's. I bumped into him in
Safeways at Gosport a couple of years ago but he didn't recognise me, or
he had other things on his mind as he just swept by.
Trev always attended the meetings and eventually became the chairman.

Inspired by...
...Trevor Aspden had his life taken by cancer on Easter Monday 2006. But Trevor, (wherever and
everywhere that you are in the everwhere spirit world) - I pledged to you that I would do this for you
and Cancer Research UK. You inspected the 22 ft kayak and gave your approval. So for your family and
especially Jamie - come and enjoy on the 15-16th Sept. Trevor spent his life enthusiastically sorting
out and resolving hydraulic system headaches. There were a lot of those on boats too, which he loved.
He had a magic which made the problems disappear. He will be missed, not just by his wonderful family,
but also by thousands of others everywhere. Trevor worked for Hyphose, then FCM and lastly for South
Eastern Hydraulics Ltd. Sadly a common cold during his cancer treatment took his life peacefully within
10 weeks of diagnosis. Trevor - watch over us - this is for you. |
